Reducing speed curve is the most important characterization of vehiclecrashworthiness because it has close relationship with occupant hurt. The workof reducing speed curve evaluation is significant. Therefore, the VehicleAcceleration Criterion which considers both the peak and change trend ofreducing speed curve is proposed in this paper. The Vehicle AccelerationCriterion is established by MADYMO.Whole vehicle crash analysis is basing on latest geometric model with theproblem of big computer time cost and backward design point. Therefore, thePart Influence Coefficient is proposed in this paper. And it is established by theanalysis of absorption and force, and the analysis of crash model withouttypical parts. Then the simplified modeling method is improved. The simplemodel is established by part-selection with Part Influence Coefficient combinedwith weight control and the data-out requirements. The simplified modelingmethod is validated by comparing with whole vehicle crash analysis.In the optimization based on response surface, select variables byexperience or energy absorption in common optimization method may have toomany or loss important design variables. The target of common optimizationmethod is car reducing speed peak or the interval value. That doesn’t considerthe optimization of car reducing curve change trend and can’t get the most idealreducing speed curve.So, the crashworthiness optimization method is improved in this paper.The optimization work is done with simple model to reduce time cost. Thedesign variables are determined based on Part Influence Coefficient to getbetter plan of design values. The optimization target is the value of VehicleAcceleration Criterion of car reducing speed curve to get ideal reducing speedcurve. The results of the common crashworthiness optimization method and theimproved crashworthiness optimization method are contrasted in simple modeland whole model analysis. The results show that the improved crashworthinessoptimization method can get more ideal reducing speed curve than commonmethod with less computer time.
