Gear is the basic component in mechanical transmission, and the analysis on such mechanical performances like dynamics, tribology and strength has always been the focus of research. The multidisciplinary performance such as dynamics, tribology and srtength have been researched independently in the extent of respective discipline for a long period of time because gear has a complex working condition, The multidisciplinary performances of the system happen simultaneously and affect each other as gear wokrs. The dynamics, tribology and strength performances of gear transmission system are studied in this paper from the viewpoint of the coupling, and the coupling relationships between them are revealed as well which is very important both in theoretical significance and engineering value.At the beginning of this dissertation, the present status of dynamics, tribology and strength research of gear transmission system are reviewed. The necessity to do some coupling analysis is presented in multidisciplinary performances. The ordinary involute gear is selected as research object, the single freedom dynamics model of gear is established and the change rule of dynamics responses (dynamical load of gear、 vibration displacement vibration velocity)with meshing line can be received through solving gear vibration differential equation by the numerical method.According to the theory of classical line contact elastohydrodynamic lubrication, the rule of the pressure and oil film shape distribution of gear transmission variation along gear meshing line can be received from solving the lubrication equation by Newton-Raphson method. The coupling characteristics of gear dynamics and tribology are analyzed, It is shown that oil film is the bridge to establish the link between gear dynamics and tribology, the key to solve the gear dynamics, tribology coupling is get the dynamical stiffness of oil film. The dynamical stiffness of the oil film could be gained when taking gear dynamics as the main operation framework and tribology as submodule. Thereby, gear dynamics responses and tribology properties would be obtained. Meanwhile, the differences of dynamics and tribology performances between couplling and uncouplling are discussed. The gear strength (contact fatigue strength, bending fatigue strength) are calculated under considering dynamics, tribology coupling effect.Finally, the main work and innovation points are summarized in this paper, the disadvantages during the research process are pointed out, and some views for the further research are proposed.
