The Symbiosis Research On The Visual Image Heterogeneous Landscapes In Urban Public Space

At multicultural development present, with the outlook to establish a distinctive image ofa city, urban landscapes and the visual image and connotation of architecture are redefiningthemselves. In this case appear the visual image heterogeneous landscapes. In visual image,heterogeneous landscapes fracture with their surrounding environment; in form, they are notcontinuous but abrupt. However, people hold totally different attitudes towardsnewly-emerging “heterogeneous landscapes”, some of which are accepted and have becomelandmark landscapes, while others cannot be accepted. In this scene, can the correlationbetween contemporary urban landscapes and their environment be found? For this reason, thethesis chooses contemporary heterogeneous landscapes of visual image as the research objectand investigates the balance relationship between heterogeneous landscapes and users’psychological needs. Its aims are to analyze and summarize well-accepted design features ofheterogeneous landscapes which have a symbiotic relationship with their surroundingenvironment and moreover to explore ways of building up the “humane urban public space”.Chapter1presents the research background.Chapter2discusses theoretical foundation of this research and summarizes the status quoof environment. It provides a reliable theoretical foundation for exploring the construction ofsymbiotic method exploited in this study by the definition of research scope, content andrelated concepts, and by the analysis of current research at home and abroad as well as thesummary of relevant principles and methods in this discipline.Chapter3introduces “symbiosis” perspective and defines symbiosis of heterogeneouslandscapes. Then it focuses on identity elements of landscape objects and identity perceptionmodes of landscape subjects. On the one hand, the paper analyzes the visual imageheterogeneous landscapes featuring symbiosis in unban public space in terms of time, areaand value, and sums up identity elements which have a significant influence on that; on theother hand, it selects intuition, interaction and meaning interpretation as representation ofidentity perception modes in heterogeneous landscapes, and concludes characteristics ofheterogeneous landscapes identity from an angle of subjects’experiences.Chapter4proceeds based on identity elements and identity perception modes studied inchapter3. This part conducts a detailed analysis of typical heterogeneous landscape caseswhich have a greater domestic influence through field research and satisfaction questionnaireand further draw conclusions.
