The paper puts forward a sliding mode variable structure algorithmwith improved reaching law to control servo motor and to drive the up anddown movement of adjustment roller so that the overprint error can beeliminated based on technical features and control requirements ofall-digital gravure press overprint servo system aiming at the overprinterror occurred in the system. Meanwhile, the chattering of sliding modecontrol is restrained obviously. Simulation results of Matlab/Simulink showthat, The method based on gravure press overprint servo system has strongrobustness.Based on the improved reaching law, the paper also designshardware circuit and software programme of gravure press overprint servosystem.The main research work and conclusions of the paper are as follows:Firstly, the paper introduces the background of development ofgravure printing, current research situation and trend of development,analyzes structure and working principle of gravure press, based on what itsummarizes control method of gravure overprint servo system andestablishes mathematical model of PMSM in dq0coordinate system. Thispaper puts the emphasis on using the sliding mode variable structurecontrol method to control the servo motor, and analysis this method’sadvantages and disadvantages.Secondly, by analysis on chattering problem caused by sliding modevariable structure method to gravure overprint servo system, based onGao’s reaching law, the paper puts forward an improved variableexponential reaching law sliding mode control method in order to reducingchatting and improving the accuracy of overprint system. By analysis onload torque unknown problem, design gravure press overprint systemcontroller by sliding mode variable structure method, the paper putsforward a sliding mode observer, estimated the load torque by measurableinput and output, calculate the engineering realization of sliding modevariable structure control algorithms. Meanwhile, by variable exponentreaching law method software simulation, this paper made comparison with the conventional reaching law method, simulation results validate theeffectiveness of the method. Simulation of matlab/simulink has proven theeffectiveness of the method.Finally, the paper introduces the realization method of hardware ofsystem practically and designs hardware circuit of system includingperipheral circuit with TMS320F2812chip as the core, main power circuit,soft start circuit, protection circuit, current signal sampling circuit, speeddetection circuit and so on. Based on this the control of software is realizedon CCS platform through C language. It lays a foundation for in-depthresearch on gravure press overprint system.
