As a solution for the energy recourse crisis, solar energy, a new renewable resource, is paid more and more attention to. However, the photovoltaic cells have the disadvantages of high cost, complex installation and vulnerability to working environment, which brings high expenses and long research periods in the photovoltaic power generation system researches. So a novel photovoltaic cell array simulator is designed in this paper, which can track the output characteristic curve of the photovoltaic cell under any working conditions.In the proposed photovoltaic cell array simulator’s scheme, half-bridge DC/DC converter topology is chosen, DSP is also used as the controlling center. The simulator is at last set up whose output power can come up to lkW.As for the photovoltaic cell output characteristic curve, this paper sets up a precise model and simplies it with polynomial fitting, and brings out a novel calculation method for searching the quiescent operating point. In the design of digital PID controller, this paper innovates the digital integral separation. The digital integral separation controller can effectively improve the dynamic performances and the overshoot of the simulator, which makes the simulator have a very excellent static and dynamic performance under load conditions.Through LabVIEW, the paper designs a friendly human-computer interface, which makes it more convenient to use the simulator and set battery specifications and environmental parameters. At the same time, the oscilloscope in the human-computer interface can instantaneously display the simulator output voltage and current, making it easy for the user to monitor the working condition.An experimental prototype is designed on the foundation of the thesis research above. The experimental results show the feasibility of the circuit design and the control strategy in this paper very well.
