With the development of social economy, science and technology innovation, the use offire, electricity, gas, oil growing, the fire is caused by the complicated factors, and there is athree-dimensional development. Water mist, which has a lot of advantages: having noenvironmental pollution, using a little water to suppress a fire fast and small destructive, canbe seen as the main substitute of alkyl halide, has obtained the basic consensus of fire scienceresearch field. However, previous work mainly focused on fire extinguishing effect of watermist with various types of fire, there is little research on how to improve the efficiency ofwater mist fire suppression, the research of applying the charged water mist to fireextinguishing is even more rare.In accordance with the principle of electrostatic induction to make water mist charged,through the charge-to-mass ratio to reflect the effect of charged, experimental study on the fireextinguishing efficiency of charged water mist. First, combined with the mechanism ofdroplet charged, a water mist mandatory charged device was designed by using inductioncharged way and established the electrical model of water mist induction charged process.Second, an experimental platform for measuring the charge to mass ratio was built refer to theisolated conductor capacitance distribution principle. The charging effect of water mist wasevaluated by measuring the charge mass ratio in different conditions of voltage, electrode ringradius and angle, the induction electrode spacing. Finally, in order to its application, a smallhigh voltage DC power supply was developed to charge the water mist as soon as the chargedwater mist fire extinguishing experiment has been done. The influence factors of fireextinguishing efficiency of the charged water mist were analyzed through the fireextinguishing time, temperature and flue gas composition.The results indicate that the induction charged efficiency of double ring electrode is thehighest, and the charge to mass ratio of charged droplets increases with the voltage rise, theelectrode ring radius and angle, induction electrode spacing decrease.The greater the charge to mass ratio is, the better the effect of charge is. At the same time, the charged water mist caneffectively reduce the flame temperature and promote fuel incomplete combustion. Also, theinhibiting effect of negatively charged is better than the positively charged. With the rise ofvoltage, the reduction of the electrode ring radius and induction electrode spacing, theextinguishing efficiency is improved and the time of burning is shortened.
