Compared to three-phase induction submersible motor, asynchronous-startpermanent magnet submersible motor has high efficiency, high power factor andrunning stably advantages, except this, it can improve the performance andpower quality of power supply cable and reduce noise pollution etc. Therefore, aasynchronous-start permanent magnet submersible motor with four poles isdesigned and researched in this paper.According to the asynchronous starting, stator and rotor segmented, verticalreinstallations, filled with lubricating oil characteristics of the permanent magnetsubmersible motor, electromagnetic design procedure of traditional permanentmagnet synchronous submersible motor is improved. The end leakage reactanceis calculated with a weighted correction way; the skin effect of the rotor slot iscomputed by rotor hierarchical; Simpson algorithm is used in rotor toothmagnetic circuit calculation. The rotor oblique slot of the motor is achievedthrough the adjacent rotor segments alternating series connection. The statorinner diameter of the submersible motor is calculated through the computerprogram assumed the number of conductors per slot for its larger regionslenderness ratio. Half-closed trapezoidal groove is used in stator to improve themaximum motor torque multiples. The high-performance rare earth NTPpermanent magnet materials and the built-in radial rotor magnetic structure withself-starting function are utilized in this design. CAD software system of motor is developed by Visual Basic language inthis article. This CAD system which based on engineering database managementruns on open modular Windows operating system, while it integrates motorelectromagnetic design, performance calculations, optimize design, graphicsoutput and file operations into a whole program, so it may guide the motordesigner to do the electromagnetic design and optimization of asynchronous-startpermanent magnet submersible motor simply, friendly and flexibly.The electromagnetic field and starting process of the prototype are simulatedby Ansoft. The CAD software is verified correctly and effectively throughcomparing the simulation results and CAD design values. This research work isvery important to develop and complete the further design of asynchronous-startpermanent magnet submersible motor.
