Along with the unceasing enhancement of our country economy and science andtechnology, the diversification which includes wind power generation andhydroelectric power generation, nuclear power generation and other emerging powergeneration technologies becomes an inevitable trend in our country electric powermarket. Because of its characteristics such as low pollution, high efficiency andlasting operation, the nuclear power is paid more attention by more and morecountries. Our country’s nuclear power technology development has experienced adecades of course. The design and manufacturing technology of double cans motoralso continue to grow stronger with it therewith.The magnetic field and loss calculation of double cans motor is directly related tothe feasibility analysis of the motor, but also has important significance to theperformance index of the motor such as power factor, efficiency, operation time,temperature rise and its stability. Especially the accurate calculation of loss can makefor the improvement of the efficiency and temperature rise control for the motor. Sothe magnetic field calculation of the motor is very necessary. With regard to thedouble cans motor which is used in special occasions, because of its long-termoperation in airtight space, the calculation of loss to predict the temperature rise ofthe motor is an important step before the motor is manufactured.This paper mainly established the motor end three-dimensional physical modeland the finite element dynamic analysis model and made some correspondinghypotheses for a double cans motor, based on the basic theory of the electromagneticfield in motor and the3D finite element method. The3D end magnetic field and theeddy loss in the motor were calculated and the magnetic field distribution and theeddy loss distribution of each end structure were obtained. At the same time, theconcrete eddy loss value in each structure was calculated in the rated condition. Theloss of the layered conical loop was calculated on the base of the whole structure which verified the effectiveness of layered structure. Finally, the motor performancewas calculated when the motor was in the normal start and two kinds of the powersupply voltage fluctuated and the end structure loss of the motor was analyzed underthe two failure conditions. Through the calculation results, it could be seen that usingthe finite element method was capable of analyzing the motor end magnetic fieldaccurately and adopting different means was able to analyze the characteristics of themotor under all kinds of conditions which could avoid the sort of the abuse as themanufacturing of experimental prototype previously, speed up the design anddevelopment speed and reduce the cost.
