As a renewable energy resource, solar energy has been widespread concern in the worldbecause of its advantages, such as pollution-free, great reserves, etc. This paper discussesstand-alone photovoltaic generation system, and makes an in-depth study on PV array, battery, DC/DC converter and inverter modules. This paper establishes simulation model of PV array in Matlab/Simulink environment. And inorder to improve the efficiency of the PV array, the problem of maximum power point tracking hasbeen researched in this article. Based on the PV array simulation model and the impedancetransformation relations of Boost converter, three different MPPT simulation models were built. The simulation results show that variable step size perturbation and observation method caneffectively track the maximum power point of the PV array and overcomes the defects of thePerturbation and Observation method and Incremental Conductance algorithm. Finally, the inverter of the system has been studied. Based on the dynamic model ofsingle-phase current source inverter, the design process of passivity-based control strategy has beengiven. The stability property is simultaneity analyzed using the Lyapunov theorem. The methoddescribed in this paper can track the voltage and current asymptotically without offset all nonlinearelements of the system. The simulation results proved that the control strategy has a goodsteady-state performance, even though the load changes in a wide range, it can make systemoperation steadily.
