By taking a particular model vehicle alternator as the research object, studying itsvibration and noise, according to that under different conditions vehicle alternator hasdifferent noise sources, we put forward the different operating conditions vehicle alternatornoise test program and set up a dedicated vehicle alternator low-noise test-bed,experimental study on noise characteristics of the vehicle alternator by experiment.Noise sources and noise characteristics will be introduced at the first, and then learn thatthe vehicle alternator’s main types of the noise, different conditions with different noisesources, different speed and load with different characteristics of noise. All of theseprovided theory suggestions for putting forward the different operating conditions vehiclealternator noise test program and setting up a dedicated vehicle alternator low-noisetest-bed.Based on the vehicle alternator noise theoretical studying, the paper conclude thedeficiency of the existing noise test program in the vehicle generator noise characteristictest,and then put forward the different operating conditions vehicle alternator noise testprogram.Analysis of the requirements of the new test program on the vehicle alternator noise testbed, the paper combines with test purpose for vehicle alternator noise characteristics, anddevelops the design of the vehicle alternator low-noise test bed. Taking use of the inventordesign software for design analysis of the various components of the test bed and takinguse of ANSYS software for analysis the various components’ finite element,taking use ofGT-Power software to design and analysis test bed’s muffler box, after determining theparts of the model.This paper complete the software design and debug installation oftest-bed by using2D drawing software.According to the test program, the experiment was conducted using the low-noise testbed. The vehicle alternator’s noise characteristics and main sources under unload conditionwas determined. Contrasting the noise characteristics of unload conditions and loadconditions, the different conditions of vehicle alternator main noise source and noisedifference is mastered.Through the order analysis of the noise signal of the load conditions, the characteristics of main noise source changing with the speed and load underload conditions is concluded. Using modal testing method to analysis vehicle alternatorend cover to contrast electromagnetic noise characteristics under load conditions, the paperfound the overall noise peak in the specific speed range. On the basic of the vehiclealternator noise mechanism, combination of the vehicle alternator test results, this paperput forward two recommendations to reduce vehicle alternator noise.
