Spatial form of the historic district is formed in a historical period, and therefore adapt tothe way of life of a historical period. However, as times change, people’s way of life and thehistoric district, historic buildings, the year the formation of spatial form quite different, anew way of life requires a new spatial form, the original spatial form of the historic district isno longer suitable for modern living habits and business models, thus slowly fading.Starting from the point of view of the spatial form, Shilong Town, Dongguan City, therenovation of the historic district as an example to explore the protection and regeneration ofthe historic district, trying to maximize the retention under the premise of the original spatialform of the historic district, historic district status quo spatial form adverse aspects ofintegration, then add some of the new spatial form, new features, making the historic districtand its historic buildings can be regenerated in the new era, continue to play its vitality. At thesame time, the historic district of Habitat Environmental Protection placed equally importantto the protection of historic buildings, down from the original Habitat environment reservedexplore renewable significance of the historic district.The thesis is divided into three parts:The first part:(Chapter1), part of the problem, the first chapter is an introductionelaborating this thesis background, objects, and the significance of the study, and to mentionmajor research method, the foundation behind the study discusses. Second chapter describedthe historic district protection theory and case and historic district protection and regenerationof the basic principles, summarized the morphological characteristics of the historic districtspace.Part II:(Chapter3) analysis of part of the problem, the third chapter discusses the basicoverview of Shilong Town, Dongguan City, the historic district, recalled the history of thedevelopment of the old city of Shilong and spatial patterns of evolution. Through the form ofresearch and questionnaire analysis of the current situation on the the Shilong Old Cityneighborhood, review and summarize the spatial form of the the Shilong historic districtstatus and put forward the Current Situation of shilong Old City historic district problems.Part III:(chapters4and5) to solve part of the problem. First expounded the abovesections of the theoretical analysis and the issues raised, some of the historic buildingscommonly used mode of transformation, by a continuation of the original spatial form and theold and new spatial form a unified explore aspects, and later in the historic district Contact and spatial form of organic elements to create aspects of the exploration. Finally, from thepoint of view of the spatial form summarize the protection and regeneration of the historicdistrict.
