| The cantilevered structure is widely used in construction. It exists in the cornice, balcony, the roof of the stadium bleachers and the station platform, the winkling platform of the theater and so on. With the advances in technology, the size of cantilever is getting bigger and bigger in contemporary architecture, the way of application is increasing too, and on the creation of building performance, it is also playing a more and more important role.This article defines the construction which has "the outer edge of the upper member beyond the lower support member’s outer surface" belongs to the category of "cantilever construction". The article used theory and method of Typology and Phenomenology, in response to a large construction examples with a part cantilever or the whole structures, thorough analysis from two angles which are construction technology and architectural art, the research not only summarizes the construction way of cantilever, material application, artistic expression and the significance of building space, but also analysis different strategies in different works designed by the architects, and it is more important. We research their thoughts through the emotion conveyed by the overhanging performance, and used which wisdom and strategy to make the perfect combination of art and technology.In today’s background of rapid development of architectural science and technology, architects and structure engineers cooperate in architectural design is very important, because an outstanding engineering design is the organic combination of an architectural design and structure design. And the architects are not only using the high technology to support their works, but also dominantly playing a unique processing skills and manipulations. Analysis of their classic works so that we can get enlightenment, through the research analysis, This article summed up four strategies for cantilevered construction in order to provide a theoretical basis for the architectural practice. |
