The rapid economic growth in our country is raising the demand for the extension of paved high ways, therefore, we have to construct more roads in those abominable areas that are on mountain slopes or near river banks. In order to build a road on a mountain slope, those engineering measures such as deep digging and large filling will inevitably be taken, and as a result, the original geologic balance in that mountain area will be broken, and calamities such as dilapidations and landslides will come. Frequently-happening geologic catastrophes above will make a project delayed, and additional investment will have to be needed. So, the stabilization of a slope during construction became a hot topic in transportation engineering. This thesis studies the content and the results are as follows:Firstly, suitable conditions as well as advantages and disadvantages of analysis methods on slope stability are discussed.Secondly, taking the engineering of winding mountain road in Maoshan scenic area of Jiangsu province as a example, it studies the characteristics of slopes on winding mountain road and the factors to affect the stabilization on a slope and destabilization patterns and the reason. Then it classifies destabilization patterns on winding mountain road in Maoshan scenic area of Jiangsu province.Thirdly, it studies the reason for the potentially unstable slopes on winding mountain road in Maoshan scenic area of Jiangsu province. According to different factors to affect stabilization on a slope, it calculates slope stabilization on typical segments of winding mountain road, and makes comparisons, using the theory of ultimate balance and the analysis of finite elements separately. At last, based on the analysis above, according to different slope patterns, it makes various suggestions on the reinforcement and monitoring of slopes, hoping to contribute to other projections.
