With the rapid development of automobile industry, the demands of welding productionprecision and automation degree are increasing highly. The methods of manufacturing errordetection are also developed to be fast and accurate. The equipments represented as opticalcoordinate measuring device have been widely used. The use of non-contact measurementtechnology which has a integrated precision not less than0.1mm makes the online detectionbecome a reality. At the same time, the use of error analysis software represented asGeomagic Qualify established a new standard which is simple and efficient for high-precisionmanufacturing inspection and processing of design analysis. In order to make the car designand produce finished for a short time, The reverse engineering came into being. Throughreconstructing the CAD model of the products, reverse engineering can absorb the advancedmanufacturing technology, and modify or redesign the prototype. Thus it can complete thedevelopment of new products in a short time.This paper summarizesd the technical information above, take the middle channel part ofthe test car for example, took a scan to the channel assembly and each single part of it byusing of the non-contact three-dimensional scanner, and obtained the points data of them.Then it compared the three-dimensional model and the point data, did error analysis of pointcloud by using the software “Geomagic qualify”, diagnose the errors of middle floorcomponents. At last, it gave a fixture adjustment proposals based on reverse engineering andfinite element simulation, established a complete process which can detect the manufacturingerror of white body and give adjustment to solve it. The middle channel error was solved ontime by this method, ensure the car produced smoothly in August this year.The innovations of this paper include the use of simulation to forecast the adjustment ofthe fixture and use it in the product trial stage.
