All-terrain vehicle(ATV) is a amphibious car which has extensive practicalapplications. The condition of their hydrodynamic properties is a significant indicatorof their overall performance. Therefore, the analysis of their ambient flow field inaquatic medium is particularly important.This paper analyzed the stress state of an ATV travelling on water, to know thatthe composition of the water resistance include shape resistance, frictional resistanceand wave-making resistance.It developed CFD analysis model of the ATV by fluidcalculation software and obtained the resistance value of the ambient fluid field, thevelocity distribution, the pressure distribution, and the free surface waves bysimulative calculation of the ambient fluid field both with and without buoys referringto the constant incompressible fluid model, SST K-Omega turbulent models and thegas-liquid two-phase VOF model;It obtained indirectly the wave-making resistanceon the assumption that the value of pressure resistance by simulative calculation ofthe ambient fluid field without the consideration of the free surface equals the value ofshape resistance by simulative calculation of the ambient flow field with theconsideration of the free surface by ship resistance theory, wave-making resistancetheory and numerical simulation methods and provides a reference for calculating thewave-making resistance of ATV. Finally, it evaluated the fluid field morphology of theATV by calculate the numerical simulation of fluid field of the ATV and analysis thefluid field characteristics of the pressure field, velocity field and free surface.The research in the thesis can find some mechanical application for improvingthe aquatic properties on the present ATVs and developing new type ATV.
