Device with suspended cone-shaped vanes is a new type of environmently friendly hydraulic separation equipment. Separation of muddy water on the device without adding any chemical flocculation, the separation efficiency is much higher than the settlement efficiency of sediment in the natural state, with the addition of chemical flocculation separation efficiency is considerable.In this paper, combined the physical model experiment with numerical simulation technique to study water and sediment separation mechansim of device with suspended cone-shaped vane. In addition, to study cone angle and the number of cone-shaped vane how to influencing the efficiency of device. The main conclusions drawn by the model experiments is:First, the mechanism of device fast separate water with sedimen is the existence of the cone-shaped vanes which increase the effective size of deposition area and shorten the distance of sediment deposition. these factors greatly improved the separation efficiency of water and sediment in the device; when changed the size angle of cone-shaped vanes you can get that the angle of the cone have a little relationship with separation efficiency, if the cone angle value is too small, which will be severely reduced the number of vanes which installed in the limited space of the device, thus trying to increase the cone angle of the vanes to improve the efficiency of the device is not feasible, as long as the value of the cone angle of the vanes is greater than the angle of repose of sediment particles in the underwater, we can guarantee the sediment is not deposited on the vanes surface, thus smoothly along the sand channel into the bottom of the device. The number of vanes installed, how many will be directly related to water and sediment separation efficiency of the device, experiment obtained under the same cone angle of the vanes and spacing, if the number of vanes installed is more greater the water and sediment separation efficiency is more higher, which means that the number of vanes installed in the device has a non-linear proportional relationship with water and sediment separation efficiency, which is also further evidence of the mechanism of device is the existence of the cone-shaped vanes which increase the effective size of deposition area. Finally, through numerical simulation of sediment deposition characteristics of the device, through the simulation results are further evidence of the physical model tests on the analysis of the mechanism of the device is correct.
