Solar energy utilization, especially photovoltaic power generation, has attractedgreat attention in many countries. As one of the most highly efficient solar powergeneration technology, photovoltaic power generation has been developing rapidly inrecent years, which refers to converting sunlight radiation energy into electricity directpower generation by using solar photovoltaic cells. How to improve the efficiency ofphotovoltaic power generation is a key issue.The goal of this paper is to implement an improved maximum power point tracking(MPPT) algorithm, based on in-depth theoretical analysis and research of photovoltaicpower generation system. The main focus of this paper is the introduction andestablishment of the equivalent model of solar photovoltaic cells, simulating thecommon DC/DC converter circuits, analyzing the strength and weakness of the existingMPPT algorithms and on this basis improving the observation of the disturbancemethod to increase the speed and accuracy of the maximum power point tracking.It is shown the excellent features of the improved algorithm by simulating thisalgorithm with MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
