Relying on fiber optic gyroscope technology, fiber optical current transducer (FOCT) has been greatly developed in recent years. The paper review on the development of optical current transducer and an introduction of the classification of optical current transducer and current development in China and abroad were given in this paper, analyzing the advantages and practical value of optical current transducer. The descriptions of the Faraday magneto-optical effect, polarized light and Jones matrix method were given, The ratio error and optical interference results of FOCT were derived by the Jones matrix. Two kinds of phase modulation methods and signal detection methods were analyzed, including ladder wave feedback principle. The polarization-maintaining relations, polarization-maintaining principles and some basic parameters were described and optical reciprocity of FOCT was studied in this paper.By using theoretical research, computer simulation, experimental validation, analysis these four methods, this paper discussed the impact on the system accuracy when the optical component of light path is under high and low temperature. The optical component contains SLD light source, polarizer, modulator and optical fiber circle.The study observed that when the SLD light source uses the light-controlled driven, chooses the polarizer that greater than35dB under room temperature, optical fiber circle uses quadruple symmetry around the law, and the temperature changes from-45℃~65℃, the impact of each device on the system accuracy can reach0.2S-class standard. For the modulator, when the temperature changes, a deviation of feedback phase and signal of2π reset negative will occur. This is the defect of modulator which needs to control the ratio error in arrange of0.35%by reducing overall error.
