The Research Of Urban Design For Small Scale Towns Based On The Concept Of’Shan-Shui City’

As long as the urbanization of China speeds up, the small scale towns step into a new era for high-speed growth. In the meantime, some issue like blind construction and ecological destruction comes out along. This thesis addresses the elements of the composition of small scale towns to conclude the principle and method for constructing the small scale towns as the type of ’shan-shui city’, based on the idea of ’Shan-shui City’This thesis consists of6chapters, the first of which mostly introduces the background, aim, object and significance of research, as well as the related method and theory. The following second chapter indicates what the urban design for small scale towns is and the dependent theory of ’Shan-shui City’ to define the sub-concept more clearly. The third part researches the composition of the urban design and ’Shan-shui City’ and to determine the range of the research by combining both of them. The fourth one starting with the elements of small scale urban design, studied separately on the topics of spatial pattern, landscape system, vertical profile, open space and architectural form to seek for the connection with ’Shan-shui City’. The fifth part is case analysis, summarized the ’Shan-shui City’ design of Meilin Town, Tonglu Town, Jiufeng Town. In the end, the last chapter summarizes the basic principle and concrete operation for how to construct ’Shan-shui City’ for small towns as the concluding statement.
