Tugboat Main Engine Fault Diagnosis Method Based On The Fault Tree Analysis

As the important auxiliary vessels for ships’entry and exit of the port, tugboat is widely used in the various ports in the world, with the tendency of development of larger ships. In recent years; the tugboat industry also had an unprecedented development, playing a very important role in the process of ships’entry and exit of the port. With the requirement of flexible operation, maneuvering characteristics, the tugboat works in the condition of large main engine load changes, which is extremely bad, so the various systems of the tugboat main engine often fail. The time for merchant ships’entry and exit of the port is urgent; the tugboats’high work intensity leads the main engine of the tugboat to high stability requirements of tugboat main engine performance, so it is required that the marine engineers should eliminate the fails of the main engine as soon as possible.Fault tree analysis is an analysis method that applicable to a variety of complex systems typical failure, which has been widely used in various fields of research, especially for diesel engine fault diagnosis system.With the description of the traditional fault diagnosis method, this article adopted the fault tree analysis and made analysis and summary for the common failures of several major systems of the main engine, pointing the tips of maintenance management and disposal. Meanwhile the summary was made for the fault tree theory and general method, aiming at the common tugboat main engine failures, design and feasibility analysis was made, using the theory and the fault tree theory. With the help of the above analysis, the engineers can do a better job of maintenance and management of the equipment and quickly and effectively eliminate all kinds of common faults.In addition, this article also made the systematic analysis of the common failures of the tugboat main engine, and meanwhile established the fault tree system, with the help of this fault tree system, the marine engineers could make the diagnosis of the common failures, improving the working efficiency. This article has some reference value in the area of quick diagnose of the various systems of main engine common failures, reducing the maintenance cost and improving the working efficiency.
