With the continued development of global economic integration andthe increasingly fierce market competition, the automotive industrychanges the original principle "costs determine the sales price" to "salesprices determine the cost ". And the auto components companiesincreasingly focus on cost estimates and cost control to reduce productcost, and improving the competitiveness for their product. The mistakes of product upstream design will be continued to enlargethe impact on product cost. Although the cost for the product design isonly about7%of the total cost, they identified80%of the product cost. It’s necessary that estimate the cost in design phase then feedback thecost information to the designer as early as possible so that the designercan understand the design constrains and know how to design, it will helpto make the products competitive.Currently, the cost estimates, in accordance with the estimate principle, can generally be divided to two kinds of methods, one is the method baseon statistical and the parameters fitting and another one is analysis ofestimation methods. This article will analyze the cost factors of car seatsthen try to use Activity-Based Costing (ABC) method and parametersanalysis method to study the cost estimates for car seats in the designphase, and build the corresponding model. Then apply this model to aspecific project to do some estimating. Then, base on the company’sexisting systems and optimize it to match the assessment methods.
