In the fast-growing China, infrastructure construction is largely carried out, but alsohighway construction is like a raging fire to carry out. However, China is so vast country thatbad ground can be seen everywhere. The foundation bearing capacity of these regions isobviously inadequate. To construct infrastructure on these ground with poor geologicalconditions, we need to deal with adverse ground. Crushed-stone pile, as a simple foundationtreatment, for its advantages such as low cost, simple construction and good reinforcementeffects and so on in soft soil foundation reinforcement, has been widely applied in Chinaand has even made significant economic and social benefits. But its mechanism and designtheory is still in the exploratory stage, the research is not very thorough and perfect.In this paper, the author, on the basis of information collected in a wide range ofpredecessors and a test items of crushed-stone pile composite Foundation of ExpresswayProject in Xinjiang, has done static load test of single piles and heavy dynamic penetrationtests for gravel pile, analyzed the data rules and has done a numerical simulation of compositeFoundation with gravel pile by a typical cross section. The section for analysis come fromK18+240km. The major work completed is as follows:(1) On the basis of extensive information collection of predecessors, analyzed thedomestic and foreign research status of composite Foundation of gravel pile and cleared theresearch thought, direction and method(2) Described foundation treatment methods in Xinjiang KuiTun-kelamayi Expresswayand general methods of pile foundation quality testing, done a preliminary analysis of the testresults.(3) Based on the deformation theory of coordination, analyzed the load test of pile-soil ofthe respective load and determined pile and soil mechanical parameters after reinforcementfor next numerical simulation.(4) By numerical simulation software FLAC3D, established a three-dimensionalnumerical model of composite Foundation with gravel pile, analyzed the bearing capacity andhosts pattern of composite Foundation with gravel pile and analyzed the effect. At last, theauthor also provided foundation reinforcement measures when the bearing capacity is inadequate.
