In recent years, with the rapid economic development of China, the requirement of energyis also increasing. Therefore, we should find a practical way to solve the problem as soon aspossible.China has been researched in alcohol fuel for many years, and many scholars haveargued that alcohol fuels are fit for solving the problems. However, because of the differentcharacteristics of alcohol fuels, the emission performance of them is also different. Thebiggest problem questioned is whether the emission of formaldehyde is much more than thetraditional oils or not. Of course, formaldehyde, methanol and other pollutions are harmful tothe human body. China has established national standards to make sure the formaldehyde inthe public places and living rooms are controllable. However, due to the high temperate andthe high rates of formaldehyde content in the emission, there is no special instruments andmethods of their detection.According to the traditional method of measuring formaldehyde, we determine theinfrastructure of the Vehicle Formaldehyde Testing Instrument, and we also use PRO/E toconduct an initial layout. After determining all the parts of the instrument, we indentified theconnection method of the instrument and the way of test finally. Through the work, themachine is made up successfully. In addition, we also present the calibration method of themachine. However, because of the limit time, there are still some shortcomings in the machine.The article also lay out some problems and the methods to solve them.Through the machine, we did some research of automobile formaldehyde emissions. Theresults showed that the formaldehyde is found both in the93#gasoline and methanol gasolineemissions, but the data is close to each other; the formaldehyde emissions is greatlydetermined by the status of the engine; the impact of ambient temperature is not significantenough; but after-treatment system is different.In addition, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of emissions of two vehicles, in theresults of SIFT-MS, we confirm that small amount of methanol are found in both the gasolineand methanol gasoline.
