The propulsion shafting system is one of the most important part of the motivitydevice. The function of propulsion shafting is mainly as follows: transfer the powergenerated by main engine to drive the propeller, and in return transfer the thrust ofpropeller to promote the ship. It’s obviously that the shafting is suffering from complicatedand variable multi-loads in the working process of main engine. The shafting vibration hasa great effect on ship navigation performance as it can directly influence loads of bearingsin the shaft system. So research on the ship shaft vibration is very meaningful. This thesis take the ship propulsion shaft as a research object, inspect a lot of researchdata internal and abroad to analyse the cause of ship propulsion shafting vibration, calculation method, and then develop the calculation system for ship propulsion shaftingvibration. The main work included as below:Describe the fundamentals and simplified models of torsional vibration, longitudinalvibration and convolution vibration, given the three types of shafting’s vibration calculatemethods, described the basic principle and calculation steps of the calculation method ontorsional and longitudinal vibration in details------Holzer, transfer matrix method, theapproximate calculation of convolution vibration method (Jasper formula, Panagopulosformula) and transfer matrix method as exact solution.Using MATLAB to develop the calculation system of three shafting vibration tocalculate the natural frequencies、mode shapes and forced vibration response. Thencalculate real shaft as examples, after that use Ansys to verify it, the results indicated thatthe system is completely correct. Finally, summarized all works of this thesis.
