Now, the dependence and demand for power increase every day. At the same time, thedemand for high reliability of power supply keeps growing. The type of distributionnetwork whose reliability evaluated is radiation-type or simple ring-type. And the numberof its components is small. Therefore, the reliability evaluation of distribution systemassumes that there is only one component is in failure in the past. With the fast run ofsociety, the distribution system becomes more and more automation, its topology becomesmore and more complex, and the number of its components becomes larger. Nowadays, theprobability becomes larger that the two or more components in system are in failure at thesame time or one component is in failure when the other component is in repair. This paper pays attention to the case that the distribution system has multiple faultcomponents. At first, this paper introduced the basic concepts of the distribution system, and summarized the existing methods to evaluate the power system’s reliability in domesticand international. After that, this paper selected the Monte Carlo simulation as our researchmethod. According to the random sampling, this paper obtains the distribution system’srandom state to simulate the real-time operation of system and designs the reliabilityevaluation model of distribution system for Monte Carlo simulation. This paper doesresearches the reliability evaluation when only one component in system is in failure.According to this case, this paper designs the partitioning method of not-workingcomponents in the case that two or more components in system are in failure. The paperthen designs the algorithm to evaluate the power system’s reliability when two or morecomponents in system are in failure according to the partitioning method. At the same time, this paper designs and creates the expert system to speed up the Monte Carlo simulation bythe self-directed learning After all these, this paper designs software to evaluate thereliability of the distribution system. And in addition, the software can simplify the input oroutput of the data, and generate the topology of distribution system automatically, so thecalculation of the reliability evaluation. At the end, we set IEEE BUS6as the test system of our algorithm. Well, in thereliability evaluation, we consider the possibility that two or more components in systemare at failure in almost same time. And we got conclusions that our algorithm could get more accurate reliability indices, and the expert system could really speed up the MonteCarlo simulation. At last, we could know that our algorithm is convergence and oursoftware is applicable.
