The lack of water resources has become an important factor in restricting theeconomic development of Tianjin. The campus is a special subsystem of the urbanecosystem, so the utilization patterns and efficiency of resources and energy incampus will become a demonstration for the society.Rainwater is considered to be a mildly polluted water resource. Thecomprehensive utilization of rainwater can effectively control the pollution of stormwater runoff, and improve the regional environment and ecological environment. It isone of the important ways to achieve the sustainable development of water resources.Based on investigating a large number of foreign and domestic literature andconsidering the natural conditions of Tianjin and the actual situation of the newly builtuniversity, this paper put forward a way to combine the rainwater comprehensiveutilization and landscape design. The research methods and results are as follows.(1) Combined with the existing rainwater collection and utilization methods,three different rainwater harvesting programs (gravity collection, pump collection andcomposite collection) were compared, including their advantages and disadvantages.Composite collection program was finally selected and applied in the newly builtcampus.(2) Collecting and monitoring the water quality of different underlying surfacerunoff in a technical college, it can be seen that the water quality of early stagerainwater runoff is poor. But the pollution concentration will decrease rapidly afterfew times rainwater erosion, the water quality of rain from roofs is better than thatfrom roads. In addition, the treated rainwater can be used as miscellaneous domesticwater, landscape water and poured water.(3) The key of composite collection program is offering appropriate utilizationways of rainwater for different areas. The campus was divided into three areas, whichwere ecological island, pipe collection area and overflow area. To embody the conceptof eco-campus, the whole center island used ecological ways to collect rainwater,such as green roof, grassed swale and concave green land, etc. The pipe collectionarea used traditional channels to collect rainwater, the collected water were used tosupple landscapes after simple treatment. The rain in overflow area was discharged into nearby rivers directly.(4) To make landscape water to reach the standard of surface water Ⅳ class, thepaper preliminary designed a treatment process which combined water circulationwith ecological purification.
