Pylon structure, one of the special types of high-rise structures, features tall, light, flexibility and slenderness. Owing to unique features of pylon structure, wind load becomesone of the control loads of pylon design. As the times goes on, pylon structures have becomemore and more complicated, which requires deep concerns on wind resistance of pylonstructures. This paper, taking the research of dolphin-type pylon on the Jianghai direct shipchannel Bridge of Hong kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, studies wind resistant property ofcomplicated dolphin-type pylon structure. The research can be divided into three parts: therelationships between static coefficients of dolphin-type pylon and wind angle, the influencesof changes in pylon structure to the sensibility of three component coefficient and study onthe buffeting of dolphin-type pylon structure. The first chapter mainly introduces features of the wind field on the atmospheric boundarylayer and the present conditions on wind tunnel test of high-rise structures. The secondchapter deals with the history of wind tunnel on the atmospheric boundary layer、the windtunnel test of stiffness-based models on dynamometry and a brief introduction on wind tunneltest of aero elastic model. The third one, based on the dynamometer check of dolphin-typepylon on the Jianghai direct ship channel Bridge of Hong kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, studiesthree dimensional wind loads imposed on dolphin-type pylon and influences brought by thechange of wind angle to three component coefficient. The last chapter, through the gas bombmodel test of dolphin-type pylon on Jianghai direct ship channel Bridge of Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, talks about the characteristics of buffeting response ondolphin-type pylon structures, aiming to know the influences brought by change of the windangle to buffeting response of dolphin-type pylon.
