Cap beam as the bridge structure, cover as a connecting link between the preceding andthe important component. Along with the volume of traffic increasing and a large number ofoverweight vehicles role, together with some unreasonable way of the design and construction, cap beam appear many different degree of diseases.According to the study of bridge both home and abroad in recent years, that the ratio ofbridge pier cap beam height l/h between3to5in majority, are in the range of deep beams’short beams.Firstly, the chapter introduces cap beam as deep flexural members of mechanicalcharacteristics, fracture morphology and analyses of the characteristic of the traditionalreinforcement methods. Through the Commonly Used space theory method to calculate capbeam in the symmetry of load and asymmetric load, is a reaction force and bending momentvalue.then aiming at the calculation results compared with the Midas/Civil model ofcalculating results. It’s to reflect the applicability and accuracy of traditional space theorycalculation method. Providing to engineering design personnel for reference. On that basis, according to the result of the diseases of the bridges investigation inShanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo highway at Hangzhou section, analyzing the diseases ofconcrete cap beam occur mechanism, come up with the control measures of disease andreinforced method. Through analysis various reinforcement method in the mechanicalcharacteristics、the conditions of use and the construction technology, according to the diseaseof cap beam take reasonable reinforcement method. Furthermore, the measures were proposedto deal with such diseases for bridges and reinforced methods were presented.
