Abstract/Summary:
At present, high-grade asphalt pavement is widely applied in our in our country, makinggreat contributions to the economic development. At the same time, there appear a largenumber of rut diseases which impact on the pavement performance and transport securityseriously. Anti-rutting agent has been used on a large scale in order to prevent rut diseases andprolong the service life of pavement. But there is less research on the modification mechanismof asphalt mixture with anti-rutting agent, so this paper will analyze and study it.The research on contrast experiment shows that anti-rutting agent as admixture can thehigh temperature performance of asphalt mixture increase greatly and improve the otherpavement performance to a certain extent. Through the extraction test we find that part ofanti-rutting agent will integrate into asphalt when mixing, and then modifies asphalt. Throughthe asphalt index test it is found that softening point of modified asphalt with anti-ruttingagent increases greatly, and penetration decreases, Bush viscosity increases, ductilitydecreases. Based on Cullen-Moore strength theory, this paper compares and analyzes thestrength of different types of asphalt mixture such as AC-16with anti-rutting agent and SMAthrough mechanical tests such as shear test and compression test. This paper also studies thechanges of asphalt mixture strength parameters under the action of anti-rutting agent, and theresults show that the shear strength, cohesion and internal friction angle of asphalt mixtureincrease with anti-rutting agent increasing. Meanwhile, it is found that anti-rutting agent canimprove the structure of asphalt mixture to a certain extent though the analysis of the strengthparameters of different types of asphalt mixture. Combined with anti-rutting agent’s influenceon the performance of the asphalt, this paper clarifies the specific modification mechanism ofasphalt mixture with anti-rutting agent-double modification.
