Research Of China’s Petrochemical Building Design In The Post-industrial Era

Thanks to the rapid development of science and technology, nowadays we have alreadystepped into the Post-industrial era. This brand-new age brings us very profound andfar-reaching reforms in many areas, not only in science and technology, but also in the fieldsof economy and culture, even in the whole society. More or less promotes and influences thedramatic reforms the development of architecture, in which industrial architecture included.Along with the new major reforms, comes also new situation that undoubtedly hasvarious newer and higher requests on the industrial-architectural designs, particularly on thedesign of buildings which are used in the petrochemical industry. Compared with the UnitedStates and other European countries, in China we have late started on the theory research anda lack of practical achievements to meet the requests of the new reforms, so it is even moreimportant for us to take a research on new theory and method to keep up with the new times,and to update our design idea and concepts of industrial buildings, in which thepetrochemical-industrial part surely takes the first demand.According to the above, my thesis begins from a deep analysis of the big reforms, takenby the post-industry, in mainly fields: science, technology, society, economy and culture, thenbased on this analysis I concluded what potential effect the reforms brought to the industrialarchitecture. Then combined the analysis of the present condition and problem and thecollation of the order of production activity in petrochemical industry, I have summarized forChinese petrochemical-industrial buildings some effective solutions and design methodsdivided into several parts such as site selection, overall arrangement, building design,landscaping and the system of landmark and label, to meet new requests of the reforms. Withmore detailed, comprehensive, useful and simple explanations, I hope this thesis would behelpful to our petrochemical-industrial building design and the other industrial buildingdesign as well.
