Abstract/Summary:
In recent decades, widely used in China, the Asphalt Concrete is the main type ofmixture of the asphalt pavement. It is very important to control the suitable graduation of theasphalt mixture to ensure the excellent road performance of the Asphalt Concrete. It isdifferent requirements to the mixture performance from the different areas, so it is veryimportant to select the type of asphalt and the aggregate lithology. In this paper, according to the actual application condition of the Asphalt Concrete in ourcountry, the performance data of AC-13、AC-16and AC-20from2005to2010is collected.Associated with probability and statistics, it study the mixture performance indicators andgets the statistical results. According them, it finds the different types of asphalt, the differentlithology aggregate and the nominal maximum particle size of asphalt effecting the asphaltmixture performance.Because the gradation is one of the key factors to affect the performance of the asphaltmixture, it is very important to control the reasonable pass ratio through sieve to has a betterroad performance. According to the data of the value of i, pass ratio through4.75mm sieve, pass ratio through2.36mm sieve and the road performance of the different types of asphaltmixture, analysis on the relationship of the value of i, pass ratio through4.75mm sieve, passratio through2.36mm sieve with the road performance, it found an optimal range to theasphalt Mixture. In addition, through the study the relationship between the high temperatureperformance with the bitumen-aggregate ratio and gradation, found the gradation is more tothe high temperature performance than the bitumen-aggregate ratio.Studying the relationship between the volume index of the asphalt mixture and pavementperformance, it has a good correlation between the VV and road performance, so it should payattention to the VV in the mixture design and construction, but it is poor correlation betweenthe VMA and road performance, and does not reflect the quality of the road performance. Inaddition, there is no good correlation between the stability and dynamic stability indicators ofthe asphalt mixture.
