| Frost Damage in tunnel is the frozen phenomenon which influences driving safety andstructural stability. All the tunnels in seasonal freezing region have the possibility of frostdamage. The area in our country which is influence by cold damage is extensive and multiple.while the frost damage will be a serious threat to driving safety and reduce the service level ofthe tunnel. How to take effective measures to avoid cold damage in these new built tunnelsand existing tunnels is an urgent problem to be solved in tunnel engineering.So this paper start from temperature filed analysis of tunnels in cold regions. Analysis ofthe surface of the ground freezing depth variation with the seasons and the tunnel longitudinaland radial temperature distribution law, provide a theoretical basis for the freeze injuryTreatment. Analysis of the impact of frost damage in cold regions tunnels, such as frost, thespring melt of leakage water and lining cracks, and the corresponding remediation measures.Put forward the tunnel’s prevention theory of the frost damage “strict waterproof, properdrainage, discretionary heat preservation, heating in extremityâ€. Focus from the water-proofand drainage for new tunnel design concept and technical measures. Water is the source oftunnel’s cold damage in cold region. Waterproof is the basis of tunnel freeze protection, weshould try to prevent water to close the tunnel structure, especially to prevent water to throughthe tunnel waterproof construction. The purpose of the drainage is to create favorablecondition for waterproof, so it need be designed and constructed properly. There are severalnew water stop should be recommended the use, such as “the X-type drainage water stopâ€,“trapezoidal drainage water stop†and a new waterproof layer laying which is layingtechnique research of waterproof layer based on a waterproof plastic components.
