Research On The Rural Settlements Changes In The Context Of Contemporary Immigration

Hanjiang River is the largest tributary of the Yangtze River, settlement gave rise sincethe Stone Age, because of its unique geographical environment, settlements have asignificant regional characteristics. As the impact of war or famine in history, especially inthe Ming and Qing Dynasties, settlements have been changing all the time. With thedevelopment of contemporary social and technological, Danjiangkou Dam,South-to-North water diversion project and the effects of urbanization, more frequentchanges of settlements have taken place in the Hanjiang River upstream region。Scholarspay more attention to urban settlements changes study than rural settlements nowadays.From the actual case of waterfront rural settlement changes in Yun County, Shiyan City,Hubei Province, this article is studying of settlement overall changes and folk dwellingupdates, summed up universality laws of rural settlements changes in the Hanjiang Riverupper reaches, raise the problems and strategies, and then apply it to immigrant settlementplanning and design project.At first, the article introduces the research background, significance, methods andframeworks, then narrate the profile of rural settlements in the Hanjiang river upperreaches area, including the geographical and cultural characteristics, rural settlementshistory, changes, naming, scale, shapes and contemporary immigration.Second, the article investigate three cases of waterfront settlements in Yun County,with the support of a large number field trips and interviews, carried out in-depth study ofgeographical and cultural situation, settlements status quo and changes, folk dwellingstatus quo and changes. Based on case studies, analyze contemporary immigration andsettlements changes including the affecting factors, change methods and laws. Find outsettlements change laws in the context of contemporary immigration.Finally, this article presents the problems and strategy of rural settlements changes,which applied to the reality projects of immigrant settlement planning and design,summary and reflection of experience and shortcomings in the design process, and thenmake some recommendations for the future of rural settlements construction.
