There is a lot of soft soil distributing in the surrounding area of Dong Ting Lake.With the development of transport in Hunan province, the highways constructing on soft soil foundation arise serious diseases, which exposure to a range of issues of soft soil foundation treatment. Because lacustrine soft soil has poor engineering characteristics such as high water content, high void ratio, high compressibility, high sensitivity and low strength, natural soft soil foundation must be treated as roadbed playing the normal use of functions. Soft soil foundation treatment cost typically accounts for20%~30%of the total project cost, and soft soil foundation treatment must be comprehensively considered in the multiple aspects of the effect, cost, schedule, construction and environmental protection. Therefore, the selection of optimal scheme of soft soil foundation treatment has very important significance.This paper basing on a highway project in Dong Ting Lake Area, uses set pair analysis theory, to meet the requirement of scheme optimization and to analyze the risk of scheme by the risk assessment related theories. Following are the major achievements of the paper:1. It introduces the classification and engineering properties of soft soil, characteristics of lacustrine soft soil and treatment methods of classification, principles and applicable conditions described in detail. It demonstrates that engineering properties, thickness and distribution condition of the soil are the most important objective factors.2. It describes the basic idea of set pair analysis, and sorts the schemes by potential class of three-unit connection number and quadratic connection-number method, verifying by the ideal solution (TOPSIS), that it’s a simple practical, effective clear the soft ground treatment interval weight multi-attribute decision-making.3. Basing on risk assessment theory, it systematic identifies and evaluates soft soil roadbed disease at each stage, verifying that the rainstorm and floods being the most threatening risk factors in the Dong Ting Lake region lead to the collapse of the embankment landslide, and puts forward the corresponding risk control methods, in order to re-design optimization scheme.
