With the large-scale construction of underground hydropower station underground tunnels> mine laneway home and abroad, research of rock mechanics is increasingly focused on underground projects. The problem of rock excavation and management is inevitalbe in the construction of underground projects. Joint rock is a kind of complex rock often encountered in rock engineering and environmental engineering. The stability of joint rock plays a crucial role in the safety of the entire underground engineering rock structure. Therefore, reasonable simulation of joint rock structure surface is of vital importance in the study of the characteristics and distribution patterns of the rock joints and can provide theoratical basis for the safety and stability analysis of underground projects.Mechanic analysis model is established based on discontinuity network models; and then further numerical simulation analysis can be done, which has a bright prospect in rock mechanics. In this paper its own Visual Basic program is developed for analyzing joint network and the program can visually represent the mass distribution of joint within the rock, and the executable data documents created by the program can be combined with discrete elements software UDEC for mechanic analysis. An example of an underground cavern is analyzed under the condition of static load and earthquake load; and the stress and displacement changes of the surrounding rock of cavern during different periods can be obtained. Finally based on the application of discrete element software UDEC, a preliminary analysis of seismic loads, the joint angle, the stress characteristics and the seismic wave amplitude, frequency and other factors’dynamic response on joint rock underground cavern is obtained.Research results show:Joint data generated by the simulation program can reflect the deformation and stress characteristics of the underground cavern effectively; and the general law of the influencing factors under seismic load is concluded. The studying method and results can be instructive to the research of deformation and failure mechanism of underground cavern surrounding rock and the design of earthquake resistant engineering, and provide a reference for further application and research.
