Traffic congestion, traffic pollution is increasingly becoming the main aspects of theurban transport problems. Traffic signal coordinated control can optimize the signal controlreduce the number of stops and driving delays so it can ease the traffic problems greatly.The paper discussed in detail the research results of the arterial road coordinated controlmodel and the selection method of public cycle, green time, green ratio, the phase, phasesequence and phase difference. And the model of taking into account the maximum greenwave width and optimal coordinated control for vehicles starting and the model of takinginto account the maximum green wave width and turning traffic flow delays lest areconstructed against different control strategies.To solve the problem that How to set up coordinated control program for twointersections with different cycles, the paper papooses the minimum average travel time inthe large cycle as the optimization goal at first. This goal reflects those goals, such as, theminimum delay, the fewer stops, and the wider green wave very well. In addition, this goalis significant in increasing the turnover rate of vehicles in the road network and easingtraffic congestion. Then the basic assumptions of the Signal coordination control model areproposed to give the road section travel time calculation model. Finally, multi-intersectioncoordination control model is got. And a specific example shows how to use the coordinatedcontrol method of multiple intersections with different cycles.This paper summarizes the key issues encountered when the arterial coordinationcontrol extended to regional coordination control and gives the methods how to solve thoseissues. A basic control unit model of coordination control is constructed, and the concept ofarterial coordinated control region and Connection path collection are raised forconstructing collection model between two arterial. On the basis of previous research, thecoordinated control steps and the core coordinated control model of arterials group areproposed. And the paper gives a specific application case and elaborates on the applicationof the model in practice.The paper presents arterials group coordinated control model which mainly contents arterial coordinated control model and the minimum travel time connection model, andgives the optimal connection method between two arterials. In the end, the paper usesVissim software to verify the model. The results show that comparing the regional beforeusing the model intersections average delay time is reduced by as much as18.72%and theintersection of the average number of stops is reduced by as much as11.28%and pollutionemissions by up to5.96%. With significant improvements on the regional road networktraffic, the model has great social and practical significance in urban areas’ signalcoordination control.
