| The waterfront of a city is an extremely important public space, it is the embodiment of city charm. With the development of economy, the waterfront has increasingly become the "golden zone of the city". Therefore, in landscape design, the geographical and cultural factor shall be fully considered.Based on the representation of local culture, this paper will discuss the waterfront landscape design method. First of all, a comparative study will be presented between related domestic and overseas cases, and summarize the waterfront landscape design strategy under the regional culture background. Secondly, the discussion will focus on types of the waterfront landscape design, classification of landscape element and design principles, as well as the connection between the regional culture and the waterfront landscape design. Finally, to investigate the Dao Wai waterfront area through the field survey, inquiries and so on, conclude the four major problems of the current situation and put the landscape design principles and counter plan to the design of the square, activities, recreation, and uniqueness from the aspects of space and landscape elements, then implement and fulfill each construction proposal, in order to create the unique cultural quality and style of the riverside landscape of Dao Wai area of Harbin. |
