Considering the widespread dynamic stability, which seriously threatens the design and safe operating of power system, the discrepancy of calculation results and the facts in system stability analysis by using inappropriate load models, then the analysis results are optimistic or pessimistic, and it can cause the unnecessary loss of power. With the power system load increases, the load model of the impact of power system dynamic stability hasn’t been ignored. At present, Yunnan Power Grid still use the static load model for dynamic stability analysis, so it is necessary to analyze and research the effect of the load model on the dynamic stability based on the actual situation of Yunnan Power Grid.This article described the basic concepts of dynamic stability, the characteristics and application of the power system dynamic stability commonly analysis methods has been discussed; it researched several power system load models and their advantages and disadvantage, and then it used the damping torque analysis to study the different static load model’s effect on the single machine infinite bus system’s dynamic stability, it used feature analysis and time-domain simulation analysis to study the different between the dynamic load model’s effect on four machine two area system’s dynamic stability and static load model, except the load model and model parameters will affect the dynamic stability, the location of the load is also an important factor; it used PSD-BPA software to establish Yunnan Power Grid dynamic load model, and comparative studied the effect of the static load model on the dynamic stability of Yunnan Power Grid and the dynamic load model, the composite load model different parameters’s effect is also studied, the above conclusions has been further verified.Through this analysis, it can basically determine the load model effects on the dynamic stability of Yunnan Power Grid, the necessity of establishing the load model is derived from the point of the system dynamic stability.
