The detection of metrological errors of water meters and theircorrection are crucial for accurate measurement. The current process ofverification and correction of mechanical water meters inevitably involve aseries of systematic errors and random errors, which has the disadvantages ofhigh time consumption, lacking professional equipments and relatively lowdegree of automation. To solve these problems, this thesis focuses on thedevelopment of the auxiliary metering error-detection and fast correctiondevice for mechanical water meters based on laser positioning, collimationand detection. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, on the basis of analysis of the fundamental principle, structure andmetering process of the water meter metering error detection devices, thecauses of all uncertainty components are discussed, their mathematical modelsare established, and tmajor uncertainty components are determined. It isproposed to detect and correct the metering errors of water meters promptlyby utilizing sensor technology to detect the rotation rate of startingcomponents of the water meter.Secondly, the system design and development of the device structure areconducted. Optical structure of reflective laser sensors featuring coaxialregression of optical path is developed together with processing circuit, thusrealizing the aiming and velocity measurement of the starting component. Thefluid pipeline and mechanical structure of the operation platform of meteringerror detection and correction device is conducted according to the principleof comparison method. Modular design is conducted respectively on thehardware system and the software system of the measurement and controlsystem.Then, the M/T algorithm is introduced and improved through the detection of starting components and the echo pulse of laser sensors, and applied theimproved algorithm to the measurement and control system, which realizesaccurate and fast detection of the rotation rate of starting components in awide range.Finally, sensor comparison, error detection of mechanical water meters andcorrection experiment are conducted to the metering error detection andcorrection equipment for water meters. The experimental results show that thedifference between the detection of mechanical water meters and thetraditional method is in the range of0.3%, however, which could realize fastcorrection of the metering error of mechanical water meters in about130s and hasa significant effect in promoting the efficiency of th e water meter’s detection andcorrection.
