With the development of China’s economy, car gradually enters into the lives ofordinary people. People stay more and more time in the car. So people require vehiclecomfort increasingly, concerning more thermal comfort of the automobile passengercompartment. As the interior space of automotive passenger compartment is small andclosed, the drivers are likely to result in tired, a trance, feelings of irritability, attentionproblems, leading to a variety of traffic accidents, when they stay a long time in anuncomfortable cab.There are two major methods used in the research of the thermal comfort ofhuman body in the cab, which are thermal comfort test and numerical simulation. Withthe rapid development of computer technology and taking the cost of thermal comforttest into consideration, the method of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is moreand more widely applied to the process of automobile’s research. In this paper, the caris matched a suitable air conditioning firstly, based on the CFD technology, and thenthe thermal comfort of the cab is optimized by the mature optimization algorithm. Themethod can provide some guidance for the design and the development of automobile.The contents are as following:1, Passenger compartment3D model of car is set up which adds the human body,built a computational grid model, considering thermal radiation and adding solar raytracing, calculates by using CFD software FLUENT. The refrigerating capacity of theair conditioning is deduced by the energy conservation laws after the thermal comfortis met. Suitable refrigerating capacity of the air conditioning is the base of passengercompartment thermal comfort.2, The thermal comfort of passenger compartment is evaluated by EquivalentTemperature. Dividing the human body into15segments, it calculated the heatexchange between each segment of human body and the surrounding environment. Itused evaluation index of local thermal comfort instead of evaluation index of thewhole body thermal comfort to study the thermal comfort of human body of uniformthermal environmental.3, The dimensions of vehicle air condition outlet are optimized by modern designmethod. Sample spots were selected by means of design of experiment. It usesresponse surface of second order to establish approximate model, and optimize the approximate model by optimization algorithm of mature. Finally it got the appropriatedimensions of vehicle air condition outlet.
