The vehicle seatbelt system plays an important role in the vehicle safety area. The seatbelt anchorage test is a quasi-static process with huge nonline, involvingmaterial and spotweld failure. The current simulation models have not treat theseproblems properly, which makes the simulation result dissimilar with the test result, and the accuracy is highly influenced by the engineer’s personal skill. How to achievehigh accuracy and stability, while reduce the difficulty and personal influence, is themain goal of this article. This paper introduced the background and significance of vehicle seatbeltanchorage strength research. Then, the calculation principle of explicit finite elementmethod used in this simulation was introduced. According to the principle, theremight be defects while using explicit finite element method to simulate thequasi-static process. This article compared different element types, chooses the fullyintegrated shell element which was more accurate. Also, the dynamic effect underdifferent load types and load time was studied. It turned out that by using a sinefunction load type and7times least period load time, the dynamic effect of the modelwas controlled within a low level. Based on the research on spotweld load and failuremode, and with the data obtained from spotweld failure experiment, a solid spotweldsimulation method was recommended with a more accuracy failure mode. Thisarticle put award a totally new bolt simulation method, which was named Tied-Breakmethod. This method reflected the property of a bolt in a simple and accurate way. Atlast, based on the improved simulation model, a some vehicle’s D pole structure wasoptimized to minimize the mass by14.97percent without reducing the strength. The research indicates that, the methods described in the article significantlyimproved the accuracy and stability of the vehicle seatbelt anchorages strengthsimulation. Also, the thinkings of this article provide good reference for otherquasi-static, strong nonlinear process simulation.
