PDM System Planning And Application In Sino-German Transmission Company

Product Data Management (PDM) is a technique that manages all product-related information including the Electronic documents, Digital files, and databaserecords, etc. and all product-related processes including a workflow and changeprocess. It provides a product the information management of the whole life cycles,and can build up a parallel-oriented collaborative environment for product design andmanufacture of enterprise-wide.Studying on its application in product design of Sino-German TransmissionCompany and analyzing the company’s specific needs, this paper serves to provide aplanning and design solution for enterprise PDM system basing on CAXA by themethod of quantization evaluation. As well in this paper, the information model ofPDM system is studied and established combining its organization structure andmanagement model, which especially fits the company’s features and includespersonnel organization model, the match of people and their functions as well asauthorization setup for the functions in compliance with the company’s own realsituation. In PDM system, the product data model manages the drawings of productsin a pattern of “Product Structure Tree” while other files in the pattern of “ArchiveTree”. Through studying the workflow model in the company, the following processesare automated in PDM system such as the approval and the release of drawings, theapproval of documents and also the change of the design. Finally, It describes indetails the implementation and application of PDM system in the company andevaluates its implementation effect, which is defined as that the PDM has bring morestandard rules for the drawings and files management and automated the designprocess management, frequently the working efficiency is promoted and the designand manufacture cost is reduced as well as that the reuse rate of intangible assets inthe company is improved.
