As one of effective retaining structures used in dealing with stability problem of layered high steep rock slope, retaining pile with prestressed cables has many unique advantages, while, there needs great amount of complex computation in the process of its design and calculation, these bring great inconvenience to the design work. In this paper, started with the research of loads of retaining structure to layered rock slope, a visual software with the function of stability analysis and supporting structure design is developed, based on the research of secondary development of AutoCAD by Visual Basic6.0, combined with the design processes and methods of retaining pile with prestressed cables. The main results can be summarized as follows:(1) The characteristics and common supporting methods of layered rock slope have been summarized, meanwhile, the scope of application of different supporting methods were compared. The design theories of supporting structures used in layered rock slope were analyzed, based on the four types of common slope failure modes:planar failure, wedged failure, circular failure and overturning failure.(2) The loads acting on the supporting structures were studied, then calculation methods of landslide thrust and earth pressure were summarized, and the formula of design load of anti-slide pile has also been derived.(3) Based on the two-parameter model, calculation methods of internal force and displacement of retaining pile with prestressed cables were studied. According to the deformation compatibility condition, the formula of design tension of anchor cable was derived. At last, the design process of retaining pile with prestressed cables was summarized.(4) A computer aided design program of anti-slide pile with prestressed cables has been developed by using Visual Basic6.0. In the program, there are many functions including inputting data in the way of man-machine dialogue, creating model, calculating load, calculating internal force and displacement, showing results by graphic and outputting standard design drawing and calculation data. Proved by examples, the calculation results of system are accurate and reliable. It is a useful and convenient tool in the design of anti-slide pile with prestressed cables.
