With the increasing of the span and the decreasing of the vehicle-bridge stiffness, the vehicle-bridge coupling vibration and the riding comfort attracts more and more attention. Based on the previous studies, this thesis is to analyze the system model of both bridge and vehicle, the coupling relationship between bridge and vehicle and the riding comfort, and to provide an detailed case study of the background cable-stayed bridge by applying a self-developed program. The main task of this thesis is as follows:1. To figure out the vehicle-bridge coupling vibration dynamic response through separation iteration method, by establishing the coupling vibration equation and taking the excitation of the road flatness into account, based on space beam element, space bar element, consistent mass matrix, Rayleigh damping matrix, vehicle dynamic model with7degree of freedom in stereo space and the relationship between the forces and the displacements in the contacting part of the bridge and the vehicle.2. To evaluate the riding comfort with the ISO26311/3octave analysis in standard, based on all the root mean square of acceleration of1/3octave which is, in accordance with the ISO26311/3octave analysis, resulted from the transformation of the time domain signal of the vibration acceleration to the signal in frequency domain.3. To program an evaluation program in Fortran language, based on the mechanical model, solving strategy and the evaluation method of the riding comfort discussed in this thesis, in order to analyze vehicle-bridge coupling vibration and evaluate the riding comfort. To test and verify the availability of the mechanical model discussed in this thesis and the self-developed program by comparing the test result of the self-developed program and the calculated result of midas as well as the conclusion of the previous classic studies.4. To analyze the vehicle-bridge coupling vibration and to evaluate the riding comfort with the help of the self-developed program VBVC. With the study on different bridge and vehicle dynamic responses to various influencing factors including the speed of the vehicle, the space between the moving vehicles, the roughness of the road, this thesis is tend to come to a valuable conclusion which can lay a firm foundation for the successive studies on the relationship between riding comfort and the bridge dynamic response.
