At present Mongolian ancient painting protection methods need to be improvement. This study demonstrates the classification of different artworks, including mural painting, oil painting, clay sculpture and ancient building paintings. The present research mainly focused on the ancient paintings. The ancient paintings are painted by different pictures, composition, techniques, color, and divided into different styles such as Yuxi painting, Soviet style, color painting, roton painting and seal painting. The study also focus on the learning of Chinese ancient paintings and common issues and key factors caused by the restoration principles, ideas, specific process, analysis of traditional materials, requirements for new material and methods as well as wider recognition of the original restoration, to save original material to the maximum possible extent, carried out by the various treatment measures of conservation and restoration.
