Research And Application On The Theory Of Vernacular Landscape In The Middle Part Of He’nan Province

Vernacular landscape design with its distinctive features affects the diversity of the landscape of the urban environment. As the " dialect" rooted in native language, vernacular landscape linger the numerous affection and sense of belonging.This article has made a research on vernacular culture、vernacular landscape and symbols of vernacular landscape, feeling the charm of the vernacular culture. As a child who grew up under the influence of dialect, always in "rustic" dialect when she/he is raving in a dream, no matter how many foreign languages she/he has studied. The excavation of the local culture is a develop trend of region landscape design, the unique characteristics for landscape of different regions.The middle part of He’nan province with its rich cultural background and unique charm played an important role in the history of the Central Plains in the course of five thousand years of Chinese civilization. Rapid socio-economic development and urban expansion blurred the characteristics of this region. In this article, the elements of vernacular landscape in the middle part of He’nan province is divided into five parts as follows:earth, wood, stone, water, totem and pattern, to analyze the feature of village planning, architecture formation, plants, waterscape in the local, and described the methodology of landscape design from the perspective of semiotics as well. This article finally analyses the application of vernacular landscape design to urban space with examples, puts forward the principles of vernacular landscape design, the importance and necessity of it for improving the urban environment.
