The Study Of The Modeling Functions Of The Freeform-Haptic Design System For The Products Design

FreeForm Haptic design system is a relatively new-product design system, which is based on the force feedback and parameters technologies. This system is a hot research topic in the scientific research, not only in functional applications but also in the system functional development. The contents of this thesis are to research design functions of the FreeForm system for product design, and these contents include some following points:The first point, study the basically functions of the FreeForm system, propose the advantages functions of system in the product design. The benefits model of this system is studied in the thesis from the sketch mode to the haptic modeling functions.The second point, the FreeForm system and a traditional CAD software were compared about the designing abilities and from that showed the advantages and disadvantages of the FreeForm system and CAD software. Besides, the sketch mode and the haptic modeling are also compared about their capabilities. Another this problem is still proposed in some specifics design.The third point, this study is showed combination of the FreeForm system and CAD software. The research is also studied about the combination methods and application abilities in product design and in mold design. Based on the results are received to propose several combination ideas and study in detail about the advantages points and applications.The fourth point is studied into the combination problem of the FreeForm system and RE software, the methods and tender to propose several combination ideas and study in detail of them about the advantages and applications’ environment. One of them is proposed the "from empty to exist" reverse design method that is a good design method and can be used for the process of new-product design and development. The fifth point is tudied the export surfaces functions of the FreeForm system, in detail study two export surface’s methods, which FreeForm system is provided. Those methods are analyzed about the operating steps, the advantages and disadvantages, and the range of application.Finally, this thesis is reseached the quality of the export surfaces. From results proposed a detection method based on reverse engineering and used that method to study the auto-export surfaces in the FreeForm system, to propose some conclusions, which are about the set parameters affect to the result of auto-export surfaces.
