Frequency is the monitoring quantity which is used to operating, analyzing and controlling the power system. One of the main tasks of the power system control is to ensure the stability of the frequency. In recent years, with the expansion of power system development and gradually increasing of power system complexity, frequency characteristics of power system is also more and more complex and power system frequency control also become more and more difficult; primary frequency regulation which is the fast response measures when grid power changes occur, plays an important role in maintaining the system frequency stability and preventing the grid frequency wide fluctuations; With the increasing of the proportion of the large capacity units in the power grid, the influence of the large capacity units involved in primary frequency regulation to the frequence control is more notable, so research for large capacity units involved in primary frequency regulation control has the extremely vital significance.This paper first analyzes the frequency characteristics of the generator, load and power system, which include the static and dynamic frequency characteristics. And it also discusses the basic principle, applicable scope, characteristic of measures of the current power grid frequency control. Based on the principle of primary frequency regulation, we put forward that we should comprehensive consideration both the primary frequency regulation ability and stability aspects, when we set the parameters of primary frequency regulation of all the units in power system. This paper theoretically researches the relation between the parameters of primary frequency regulation and the frequency stability, ability of the primary frequency regulation in power grid respectively. It detailedly analysis the influences of the large capacity units parameters on the grid frequency control. Based on this, through simulation calculation in the actual operation mode of Gansu power grid, This paper analysis dynamic frequency characteristics in different frequency modulation parameters and dead zones, Then obtains the best primary frequency regulation parameters of large capacity generator units in Gansu power gird.
