The speed of our industrial development is fast very mush since reform and opening up, so the demand of electrical power also increase respectively. The thermal power is main force in china and the most of the state in the world currently. The coal bin of thermal power plant is the equipment that stores raw coal and is the initial equipment of burning system, so warranting the normal working order of coal bin is premise of warranting normal work of burning system.The purpose of this paper is to explore two problems in the process of loading and unloading of coal bin:pressure distribution of lateral wall; flow pattern of raw coal. This paper takes the actual coal bin of a thermal power plant domestically for example and then sets up three-dimensional discrete element model and simulate its process of loading and unloading. At the same time, the three-dimensional discrete element model of coal bin is analysed from the three sides of architectural design of coal bin, characteristic of raw coal and operation condition of coal bin. The academic auspice accordingly is provided for some correlative problems, such as rational design, running and maintenance of coal bin.
