In order to improve the utilization rate of energy in electric power industry, reduce energy consumption and pollutant discharge, and promote the development of national economy fast and well, energy saving power dispatching measures trial has been launched in China, which has been tried out in some places. It is a great reform for current generation dispatching mode in China. With a group of large-scale hydropower station reservoir established, the research of cascade optimization scheduling is not only meaningful to give full play to the efficiency of reservoir project and realize the maximal use of water resource utilization, but also accords with the demand of saving power dispatching in current time, which plays an important role in the theoretical value and practical meaning.This paper, firstly, puts forward the difference between saving power dispatching and current way of power dispatching, and analyses the importance of cascade hydropower stations of reservoir joint optimization scheduling in energy saving power dispatching based on system research of saving power dispatching related theory. According to limitations of conventional scheduling graph on the guidance for the dispatching operation of cascade hydropower stations, the storage power scheduling graph is introduced. Practical engineering history runoff data has been used for simulation operation analysis, and the results show that, comparing to conventional scheduling graph, not only the annual average generation is promoted, but also surplus water is reduced. So storage power scheduling graph is reasonable, feasible, practical and superior. Finally, this paper established a maximal model of the total energy of cascade hydropower stations in the scheduling end. According to the faults of discrimination coefficient method in the hydropower station reservoir scheduling for normal operation and comprehensive utilization, which are easy to cause damage, storage power scheduling graph and line for water storage are introduced. Then the model is solved by the improvement method. The practical example analysis shows that the improvement method can distribute the load reasonablely, meet the demand of energy saving, and have certain application value in the joint operation of cascade hydropower stations.
